My girlfriend, Lilly, and I met online (not Tumblr, by the way!). She is from Missouri, U.S.A., and I’m from Toronto, Canada. It was pretty unexpected that from a day of boredom on the web, this amazing relationship began. Like most, it started out with casual chats as friends, escalated into talking more frequently, into everyday for hours. We began texting, talking on MSN and Skype pretty much all the time.
Over time, our relationship turned really serious. My parents knew about Lilly, and they were hesitant, but overall, okay with it. When Lilly’s parents found out about me, it worried them a bit and they were very concerned. It caused a pretty big dilemma. However, thankfully, a few days later, they gave it a chance. From then on, our relationship got much stronger. We mailed each other gifts for our birthdays and Christmas. We obviously planned on meeting up in person some day. I got officially invited by her family to attend her sister’s wedding October 16th, 2010 a year beforehand and I promised her I would make it, no matter what.
So after a year of talking to this beautiful girl, in August 2010, her family was going on vacation to Ohio. A weekend before, my Dad had asked me if I wanted to go somewhere (because it was a long weekend) like New York or Niagara Falls, which is just about two hours away from where I live. I jokingly said, “Let’s go to Ohio because Lilly is there!” To my surprise, he agreed. At first I wanted to surprise Lilly, by showing up in Ohio where she would be. Unfortunately, I couldn’t help myself and told her I was going there to meet her.
And so I did. At Cedar Point theme park in Ohio. I was so nervous, of course, but it was exciting. She was so gorgeous that I sometimes didn’t know what to do or say. But eventually I got comfortable around her. I only stayed two days in Ohio, but it was amazing. She was amazing. And it was hard to let her go, but I knew I’d see her again.
Two months passed and her sister’s wedding was approaching. I needed to book a flight. The thing was, I didn’t know if I would be able to go because I had an exam that same weekend in school. After e-mailing the teacher, she was considerate enough to let me miss the exam and re-take it another time. A week later, I was on a plane, on my way to Missouri.
I stayed at her place for one week. I got to see her house, her town, attend her sister’s wedding, meet the rest of her family, and just be with her. I got to cuddle, hold, hug, and kiss her. I loved every second of it. It was awesome. The day came when I had to leave, and it was much difficult to let her go than before. But, I was happy that I even got to go there in the first place. And I’d be with her again, soon enough.
Two months went by until December. For Lil’s Christmas gift, her parents let her come here for two weeks! Christmas passed and Lil was on her way to Canada to spend New Years with me. She met my family and relatives during a New Years Eve party. Everyone liked her and we had a lot of fun. We kissed right at midnight. I started my new year with my girlfriend right beside me. Couldn’t get any better.
We spent the two weeks going everywhere, every single day. We went to many malls, stores, places around my city, restaurants with cousins, friends, and family, and whatever else. We watched movies together. We went on “dates”. We cuddled every night. She actually played action/horror video games with me too! It was awesome.
The day came when she had to leave. We stopped by Niagara Falls before we went to the airport. We kissed before she had to go. I just told her “See ya later!”. No goodbye’s.
The next time we see each other will be this summer. We are planning to visit for the entire summer. I’m probably going to Missouri for two months from mid-May to July, and she is probably coming here from July to mid-August! AWESOME?! Excited!!!
It hurts to be apart, but I know, everything we need to go through will be worth it in the end. I can’t wait to be with her again. And I especially can’t wait until we can be with each other, for good. Love you to infinity and beyond, Lil!
