you picked me up late, because you had to make one of your intense sandwiches. the ones that take you half an hour to perfect? yeah, one of those. anyway, you picked me up. and we didn’t know what to do. so we drove to stores where we weren’t going to buy anything. we questioned the clothes being sold, and just wasted time and gas. we drove and you sang owl city to me. and even though you were intending it as a joke, there was a double meaning. if my heart was a house you’d be home. then we found ourselves at park. you had to loop the swing around the bar, but since i’m just short, the swing was perfect. you & i sat on the swings for almost an hour, seeing how long we could be in unison. laughing at ourselves, kicking sand around, and being young. but the next part was a little different.
we just were. we were there, and we were together. leaning up against those monkey bars, hand and hand as the sun set in the distance. but when you hold of my other hand, and pulled me in front of you, i wasn’t sure what to think. it was me leaning against you, and you against the monkey bars. and right then, when the sun reflected in our eyes, and you wrapped your arms around my waist, and i placed my hands around your neck, and you kissed me like you meant it, i felt something i hadn’t in a long time. if ever at all.
real, true, genuine, happiness.
real, true, genuine, love.
