So, its a crazy story how we met and all.. you probably wouldn’t believe it. It all started in about 1996, when both of our mothers worked at Olive Garden. We were both around 3 or 4 or somewhere around there. They used to bring us there for who knows what reasons. I always remembered there was always this little boy sitting right across from me. Years after, when my mom was no longer working there I could always recall that little boy but never his name or his face.. he was just known as the little boy that would run around the restaurant and share bread sticks and alfredo sauce with me.
This brings us to the summer before 2nd grade and the summer after… and everything in between! Where I unknowingly, at Summer Recreation, became best friends with this little boy who’s name was Kevin. We were about 8 or so. We were two crazy little kids. We had crush’s on each other and we were honest about it too! School went by then came the next summer. We we’re still the best of friends. We even went on a ‘date’ to a David Copperfield show to think of some magic tricks we could show in class. It was amazing.
After the summer of 2nd grade I never saw him again. It was actually pretty sad. He moved schools and I did not know why. 3rd grade went by, 4th grade, 5th grade… middle school.. still no Kevin. I always did think about him though. All the time. I always wondered what he was up to…(If you couldn’t tell)
The summer after 8th grade, thanks to myspace(bleh!), I found him again! I’d been searching for him forever on that thing and then suddenly bam hes there! I found out that he had his last name changed, so that was the reason I never could find him.. we talked for about 2 days and then we just kinda stopped talking..
A year later, the summer after Sophomore year, I found him on facebook. He invited me to a choir concert. My heart was racing! I hadn’t seen this boy in nearly 8 years! I was extremely excited I got to reunite with my 2nd grade best friend. After that night we’ve been together almost every day of the summer, aside from our weekday jobs. It felt instantly like old times, like we were those two little crazy kids again. It was amazing!
Crazy part of this story is that for 8 years, his grandma has been living right across the ditch from me… and we never knew it until that day. Its crazy to think about how life just works in funny ways. We’ve been together for 4 months. Now we’re just making up for those 8 years that we’ve lost. <3
(should I mention that I never knew he was the little boy who caused mayhem with me back in ‘96 until my mother met him and told me.)
