My husband and I met close to 10 years ago, in a small high school in a small town. Instantly we knew we had something special. He made me believe in love at first sight. No matter what we could count on each other, even when everyone around us told us it wouldn’t last. We were and still are each other’s best friend.
Our seventh wedding anniversary is next month. We won’t be together for it, because you see when he was 18 years old and we were newlyweds he wanted to do something great with his life. He enlisted into the Army. Now he is serving his second tour in Iraq, ensuring that “land of the free, home of the brave” still applies to our country. I am extremely proud of him and even with him gone we are as connected as ever because love knows no limits, boundaries or distances.
I am counting down the days until my soldier can come back home.
