Some people say that love is blind. That when you love someone, you do not see their flaws. Your friends tell you that the one you love is abusive. Is disgusting. Is this, is that. But you don’t see it. You tolerate days of mistreatment for moments of bliss. Because you are in love.
No. That is infatuation. That is lust. That is confusion. That is not love.
Love is not blind. Love is all seeing. Love is wise. Love is accepting. And love is respect.
You don’t let someone mistreat you, if you love them. If you love someone, you make sure that he or she treats you with respect, because you respect them and because of that, you demand their absolute best. You see their minor flaws, and they see yours, but together you improve what can be improved, and teach each other to accept what cannot be changed. You help rid one another of self loathing.
Love is not blind. Love is wise.
