There’s a Canadian-US border between us. We see each other about 3 or 4 times a year. Our daily lives are filled with school and work, among other activities. Plane tickets can cost us up to $700. If we’re planning to visit each other during the school year, we have to wait and hope that there is nothing important going on, and the same goes for work. I don’t get to hug her for months. I can’t kiss her either. The closest we get to being with each other until we meet up again is through a webcam.
I know that some people have it terribly worse. For those couples who have their partner in a war, especially, I commend you. Your wait may be longer and your patience must be much stronger. But, for those couples in close-distance relationships, please, never take it for granted. Ever. You’re all so very lucky, and to be honest, I’m really jealous of your proximity to your boyfriend/girlfriend. I wish mine could be the same.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t have it any other way. This girl is my everything. Though we don’t spend every day together, we’re already so comfortable with each other. We’re both 100% dedicated to this relationship and are pushing towards the future to be together for good. We’ll be one of those couples that beat the distance, you’ll see. True love is always greater than distance.
