Hi, I've been in a LDR for three months and we finally broke up. He never spoke a word to me when I wanted to know why we were falling apart and left me crying by myself for a week. When I did talk to him, he was very reluctant and it seemed like he hated me. But after our break up, we haven't been talking for two months and I felt like I was missing something from my life and I finally started talking to him again. This time when he talked, he seemed more willing and for the past couple months, we've been talking like nothing has happened between us - like we're still dating. He's got a girlfriend and every time I ask him why he's still with her, he says he's confused about his feelings and that he cares for her and cares for me, too. Every time I get overwhelmed and it hurts knowing that the things we talk about are the things I can't do with him at all. He gives subtle hints about what he wants in the future and they all include me, like how we'll move in together and I'll be his again. Plus, lately, he's been telling me that he misses me. I don't know what to do. There are some days where I want to get back with him and there are other days where I don't because of how much he hurt me before, and especially since he has a girlfriend.

I think all he needs is some time, and perhaps you both needed the time away from each other in order to really connect. Now that you’ve given yourselves space, you can talk like a real couple again. The only thing standing in the way is his girlfriend, but there’s nothing you can do about that, unfortunately. You have to give him time and let him decide on his own.
