Hello World Wide Web!! My name is Philippa (feel free to call me Philly for short!!), and I have just happened upon this absolutely darling blog :-) I thought that, seeing how it is my 50th Anniversary with my Life partner of 50 years, Florence, I thought that I would submit - even though I will probably seem pretty old to most of the young folks on here!! LOL!! :-)
When I was seventeen years young (seems like a long time ago now!), I never thought I would find love like they did on the Silver Screen. I was just coming to terms with my emerging Womynhood and Sapphic sexuality, and slowly realizing that I could not be happy with someone of the Male gender, as I had always been taught that I should be. I had never even heard of such a thing as a "Lesbian" - Hard to believe these days! I thought that I might never find true happiness. That is, until one glorious evening showing of "One Hundred and One Dalmatians," where I first caught sight of the girl who would become my lovely partner, Florence :-) She was stunning, and the only girl in our Conservative small town with the courage to wear jeans. It was love at first sight, and I could only hope that I would see her again.

Fortunately, luck was on my side in the form of our end-of-the-year Sadie Hawkins dance!! I asked my best friend, Chad, as he had a wonderful sense of style and it would have been unthinkable for two young ladies to attend together, in that day!! He wore a pink cummerbund that matched my best cat skirt - like a poodle skirt, but with my favorite animal instead of the traditional poodle :-) I guess you young people might have called me a "hipster!"

Lo and behold, when I entered the dancefloor, I saw My Florence across the room! She had gone to the dance by herself - just another sign of that feisty Spunk that I would come to love about her!! - and had never looked more beautiful. A tradition of our school dances was that the second dance of the night was only for the young women in the crowd. As the song came on, Florence came over to me and swept me off my feet. After our enchanting dance, we talked all night, sitting in the field behind the gymnasium where the dance was being held. As we heard the last song of the night come on, Florry led me in a lovely slow dance, and we shared our true love's first kiss.

Ever since that night, we have been inseparable :-) Over the past fifty years, I have grown to love and cherish My Florence more and more every Day, with every passing Second. We have raised a beautiful son together and share a lovely home in the woodsy beauty of Northern Michigan, filled with the kitties we love so dearly. I hope that my story has given some of you folks hope that there is true love out there!! If anyone wants to know more of our story, or is having any love difficulties, I have been told I am a good listener and a Lovely conversationalist and invite you to chat with me! :-)

Signing off,
Philippa :-)

P.S. Here is a haiku that My Florence wrote for me on our 25th Anniversary.

The way that you smile
Makes my heart tremble and quake
I will never leave.
