This here is my boy.

I went into junior year of high school thinking that I did not want a boyfriend. I broke up with my last one a week into school, and I had a plan to stay single for the whole year. I wanted to flirt around and party and live it right up. And then, I got on Myspace one day (YES, I KNOW) and I posted a bulletin,
Hey, does anyone wanna take me to see Inglorious Basterds?
Within a couple minutes, I got a message from Travis, this kid I had Biology with freshman year. I’ve always thought he was funny, and a little on the geeky side, but he was so sarcastic that I thought I could never stand up to him in a conversation. Even with all that, he said he’d go with me.
So, we continued to talk, doing the awkward flirting thing one does in high school. Every time I saw him at school I couldn’t think straight. It was like God came down and scrambled up my brain every time I got near him; I was sure he thought I was an idiot. We made plans to hang out at the football game together, and I sat with him and the rest of the drum line of our pitiful marching band all night. It was the most fun I’d had in months. We went to IHOP later that night with some of the color guard girls and he asked me out in the parking lot. His voice cracked on the word “out” of “Will you go out with me?”
I was hooked.

Through all sorts of things, today, two proms, two pregnancy scares, three fights, getting lost, a summer apart, all nighters, walks across Atlanta, a year and eight months later, we are still together and going strong. He’s a freshman at the college I am scheduled to attend, and he’s trying to plan where he gets his Master’s degree around mine – even though I keep telling him not to make such a big decision based on my location. That’s six years from now. Even though it’s a really long time, I can see myself with him even further than that: getting married, getting our PhDs, having a kid, working together, traveling together, living together.

Babe, I love you. Let’s stay like this, together, for the rest of our lives. Are you ready?
