I broke up with my boyfriend of 520 days last night. We didn't want it. My parents couldn't accept his race, and they both cried when they realised he wasn't my race (they only just found out yesterday). I didn't know what else to do. They kept telling me I broke their hearts and they failed as parents to have brought me up to become like this. I still love him. He still loves me. It pains us that we're apart. We've decided to remain good friends, but I don't know. I feel miserable. My parents did say that they wouldn't have cared so much if we had gotten together when I was an adult (I was 15 when we got together. I'm 17 now). We talked about it (him and I). We thought it might be possible in the future. I just wanted to ask, do you think he'd wait?

Honestly this breaks my heart. If you love someone you shouldn’t leave them because of your parents, they’ll accept it eventually. And if he loves you he’ll wait.
