First Love - The Maccabees
Dear train companies of the United Kingdom,
This is my letter of complaint from me, to you. Recently you have raised your train fares, from the point where I could hardly afford them to the point now at which it is a major life investment to purchase a ticket.
Meaning that if I were wanting to see my girlfriend, which I do, then I would have to spend over two week’s worth of living expenses to be able to afford it (I’m a student you see and I live on one side of the country and she is on the other, its 200 miles).
As a nationwide corporation concerned with profits and train times I’m almost certain that you have no empathy for the long distance relationships that string our country together, however if you ever see this, please please spare a second thought for the young love, the middle aged love, the old love, the family love, the love of a friendship and the people that just miss one another country-wide.
Your prices are an exploitation of emotions, which if we’re being honest here (which we are) is morally wrong.
Please reconsider your pricing strategies, I know you need to make money somewhere, can you not just sell some trains or something?
Yours sincerely and pretty upset(ly)
Fraser James
