Lilith liked to be the one in charge. She thrived off being in control and knowing exactly what she was going to do, how she was going to do it, and precisely when. It was her biggest downfall, but also her best attribute. As she began whisking at the eggs, she snuck a quick glance at Roman. He was sitting on a stood at the island in the kitchen, holding his face up with his hand. “Are you bored?” Lilith asked. “No, I just wish you’d let me help,” he replied. It took her all of two seconds to consider this. “Nope. You can watch me and I’ll explain what to do if you ever want to try it, but you can’t do it. I do it.” Roman got up and stood beside her. His nearness was making her body tingle, but she ignored it as best she good. He didn’t need to know the effect he had on her. “Just let me try. By myself,” he said, persuasively. He also placed his hand over hers, which was gripping the whisk even harder know. Lilith refused to let go. “No!” she half-yelled. Two could play at this game. Then he began tickling her. And instant wave of silliness overcame her and she started fidgeting with laughter. “Roman! Ha ha ha, Roman! No, I can’t!” she cried, as tears of laughter rolled out of her eyes. Suddenly, with one swift jerk of her arm, the bowl of eggs crashed to the floor. Yellow egg was everywhere. Neither of them moved. But just as fast, Lilith’s instincts kicked in. In less than a second, her silliness had vanished and she was already picking up the shattered bowl and throwing them away. Lilith couldn’t stand him in that second. But she was more upset with herself—how could she just let her guard down and be so irresponsible like that? Ugh, it was pathetic. A few moments with a guy and she was already losing her mind? No way. Roman knelt down beside her. He didn’t say anything for a few seconds, just quietly helped her clean up her mess. When all of the pieces of glass were picked up, Lilith grabbed some paper towels and swiped the egg remains. Again, Roman sat there quietly helping, until she had just about finished cleaning up. Lilith sighed and looked up at him. They were at eye-level and so close to each other, she almost felt the same tingly feeling she had earlier. Almost. His dark green eyes were locked on her plain brown ones. Self-consciously, she tried looking away, but he caught her face in his soft, gentle hands before she could even register what he was about to do. Then, she noticed her hands were over his. How did that happen? What was she thinking? The strange thing was, her mind was completely peaceful. For once in Lilith’s life, she wasn’t thinking. Her thoughts, her heart, her every being was in sync with Roman’s. “Let me help,” was all he whispered. Lilith closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “Okay,” she whispered right back. And then he kissed her. Via: AilysPeace
