This is where it really begins.
Up until this point, I had never really dated a girl. My only relationship—long distance—lacked a lot of substance to it, though it’s moments could be considered adorable. And if you hadn’t noticed…never been kissed.
High School Senior Year (2008)
I was TJ the party whore. TJ the kid who looked like Manny Pacquiao—yes, the boxer. TJ the singer who could also play guitar. Even though, I was still hanging with Dream Girl, I was kinda flirting with this new girl, Pandapple. I would tickle her in the hallways, once I tried bringing her onto my lap when she came to my house, and I’m sure there are other things. Call me juvenile all you want!
When did I start having an interest in her? I started noticing her dress differently in class. By that I mean, she would never dress girly in the four year of school together—she was tomboyish. Like every girl I liked before, she just looked cute. I was and still a sucker for a cute face.
She would make fun of me too. You see, whenever I played basketball during lunch, I had this rather irregular shot style. Whenever I would finish my shot, my fingers would point up above my head like a reindeer. Another interesting thing was that my friend dared me to say “slut” everytime a girl talked to me for a week. So she would purposely do that so I’d say “slut”. She also liked teasing me about how old I am. I definitely still look like a twelve year old.
Lesson 24
Everyone flirts differently. Sometimes childish, other times sensual. If someone cannot tell that you’re flirting, it’s not necessarily on you. Their focus could be on someone else, maybe they’re just too oblivious to see, or maybe they think it’s just too good to be true. In any case, you eventually have to take the matter into your own hands.
I was going to ask her to prom, but I decided against the idea. Two reasons.
1. I was planning to go to Seaside Heights with some people, so asking another girl going would make more sense
2. A friend in my class was considering asking her, and I figured I didn’t really like her anymore than he did
